Therefore its still important to populate this. I failed to once and it all had to be added later as it was needed for non search engine purposes.

Maybe it’s just me being confused here. Required? From what I can see in the HTML spec no meta tags are _required_.
“User agents are not required to support meta data mechanisms. For those that choose to support meta data, this specification does not define how meta data should be interpreted.”
